ALBUM OF THE DAY: Jackal – Awake

1973. The year is respected for many great albums that came out that year ! Canadian JACKAL are no excuse. The band did nothing else, but left a legacy of a fulfilled album that combines the heavy prog elements with the hardrock scene that was ever growing in the early 70’s.  On these 8 tracks, there are impossibly 3 seconds of bad music here. Swirling hammonds, heavy guitars and a Scottish vocalist, making the English language perfect ! Perhaps the second track “For you” stands out as one of the best heavy progressive tracks from the Canadian 70’s scene ! Too bad the band never released anything else than this, but perhaps also, best to leave on top !
